Edith Akenkide
Director, Iroko Care

IROKO has an excellent team who support the delivery of the business.

Edith Akenkide is a qualified Social Worker. She is registered to practice with Social Work England. She has worked in many roles in health and social care setting including working as a Team Manager within a busy Community Mental Health Team in London where she managed a range of health and social care professionals. She brings 27 years’ experience as a social worker practitioner. She is also an Approved Mental Health Practitioner, A Best Interest Assessor (BIA), a Practice Assessor and has the Practice Teachers Award. 

 

Edith is a visionary and established influencer in many circles but particularly in leadership circles and on issues on leadership and substance misuse. Her passion is centred around bridging the divide between social care and healthcare to ensure greater partnership working in the delivery of service to those with the greatest need. She is passionate about seeing people treated fairly and that those who are vulnerable and at risk get the care they need to improve their quality of life and wellbeing.

The Iroko is is a large hardwood tree from the west coast Africa that can live up to 500 years. Often referred to as African teak, Iroko is believed to have healing properties.
